The Glory of the Lord

By Kristy Solis
Life can be overwhelming. It is a shared experience all of us have felt at one time or another; everything seems to happen all at once.
When we feel this way, there’s something else we can all share – the glory of the Lord.
“If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people. The Lord replied, ‘My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest’” (Exodus 33:12-14).
Therefore, when life feels overpowering, rest in the presence of God; allow the Lord to take charge.
Before rushing into the day, take a pause, say a prayer and plan to be purposeful with the Lord. Pausing allows us to reflect on what is consuming our lives. Is it even anything that we need to be worried about? It may even be something which is out of our control. When we realize this, we need to let it go.
Praying is powerful. Think about what you pray for. Do you just focus on what overwhelms you? It is good to release these burdens. However, we need to offer up prayers of gratitude also, especially for our blessings. Plan to be purposeful with the Lord. Sometimes, this is one day at a time and, sometimes, this is one moment at a time. Being purposeful allows you to rest in the Lord’s presence, and he will direct your path, your will.
Lord, hear our prayers when we feel overwhelmed. Remind us not to rush in life, but pause to reflect. Remind us to pray not just for what consumes us but for the many blessings you bestow upon us. Allow us to take refuge in you to release our burdens and move onward with the joys in life. Continue to overwhelm us with your glory and your grace instead. Let us be purposeful every day and not worry about tomorrow, for you will direct our paths and our will.
