Baptism: A New Beginning in Christ

By Gavin Lewis

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)

When you were baptized, something truly extraordinary happened. You became a new creation in Christ! Just like a butterfly emerges from a chrysalis, baptism marks the moment you began a brand new journey with Jesus.

Imagine standing by a flowing river, feeling the water gently wash over you. This is what happens in baptism. Water, a powerful symbol, cleanses and renews. It represents a fresh start, a new life with Jesus.

Through baptism, you become part of God’s family.  Just like in a family, you have parents, brothers and sisters who love and take care of you, God becomes like your super special parent who loves and takes care of you in a very special way. It means that you’re part of a big, loving family that believes in kindness, love and helping others.

So, when you get baptized, it’s like saying, “I want to be a part of God’s special family, and I want to try my best to be kind and loving, just like God is to us.”

Remember, Jesus himself was baptized, too. He showed us the way.

As you grow in faith, reflect on his example and strive to follow in his footsteps. Take time today to thank God for your baptism. Ask him to guide and strengthen you on this wonderful journey. Know that you are cherished, valued and called to shine his light in the world.

May your life be a beautiful testament to the grace of baptism, a constant reminder that you are loved beyond measure.
