Hosanna in the Hallway!

By Kristen Bourgeois
As a momma, I put a lot of pressure on myself. I have these expectations on what life is meant to look like, especially when it comes to homeschooling and raising my little ones in the faith. And, I have found myself being extra grumpy when things aren’t going the way I have planned.
As I was cleaning up after the dogs in the hallway, grumbling to myself while attempting to rally the kids back into our school room, my 3-year-old zoomed past me on his tricycle down the hallway singing at the top of his lungs: “Hosanna in the hallway!”
It brought tears to my eyes.
My son doesn’t know it, but he is praising God in his circumstances. … right there in the hallway of our house, all while our day is not going as this momma has planned.
Now, my 3-year-old might not have the same expectations as I do on how our day goes, but does it matter?
It was a good reminder for this momma to praise God as spontaneously as her little boy. I needed a change of attitude and a change of expectations, and the little boy that God gave this momma helped her do that.
