The daily morning offering is life changing
By Greg Zambrano
A typical thought I used to have in the morning was wondering how my day would turn out. I hoped it would be positive and free of issues and trouble.
But, then, I heard a priest talk about praying the morning offering, like religious men and women do when they awaken, and I decided to give it a try. It has changed my life.
The morning offering of prayers takes away the uncertainty of my long-term and immediate future. I recommend that everyone offer their prayers, works, joys and sufferings to God the first thing in the morning – before even putting one foot on the ground!
Bible passages reinforce how the first and best of many things were offered to God: the first harvest and livestock were given to the temple; the best wine during the wedding feast at Cana; the first born taken to the temple in Jerusalem to be consecrated to God as Jesus was in the Presentation of our Lord.
By doing this small task regularly, it has removed doubt in my day. If God is the first person that I talk to and think about, he will live in me all day. If I have doubt at dawn, I now have direction at day break. I don’t need to know where I am going or what is hidden, because God is by my side.
The direction I now travel with certainty is towards God. I have found happiness knowing God is by my side on this long and difficult path. He is my hope, my light, my salvation, my God.
You can teach your children the way towards happiness and peace in the morning, too, by orienting them towards God. I look forward waking up each day greeting the Lord with devotion.
