Sharing married life with the one she loves

By Charlotte Phillips

Today, my husband and I celebrate our 14th wedding anniversary. Sometimes it’s hard to believe it’s been 14 years since we’ve said our “I dos” on that unseasonably cool (who are we kidding, less hot!) August night. But, most of the time, it’s hard to imagine life before we were together.

Our life together, like most couples, has been filled with its fair share of ups and downs and everything in between. We’ve celebrated the birth of our four babies, new careers, multiple moves and other accomplishments. We’ve also mourned the loss of family members, friends, jobs and my childhood home.

We’ve lovingly worked together, sometimes through hurt feelings, bruised egos and super stressful moments to balance the busyness of all the things this life together has given us.

While sometimes things aren’t always easy, I cannot imagine doing life with anyone else. Tonight, in true parent fashion, we will gratefully celebrate with an early dinner date night before heading to a parent back-to-school meeting.

Thank you, God, for my husband, and thank you for letting us celebrate another year of marriage together!
