When we drop God, we allow the devil in

By Michelle Macicek
One of my girls recently started preparing some reflections for the upcoming school year that she will use as a student preacher. She sometimes runs them by me, which is such a gift. I would really like to share this one because it relates to all of us.
“One night I was sitting in my bed praying. I was sitting up and holding my cross in my hands. As I was praying, I began to get tired and suddenly the cross dropped from the grasp of my hands. In that split second it meant nothing to me, and I quickly picked it up. As I began to hold it and continue my prayers, I realized what had happened … I dropped God. It wasn’t a big deal at the time, but highlighted a bigger issue – the easiness to drop God.
“We allow our tiredness, school work, phones and other worldly things to get in the way. We prioritize these things and drop our relationship with God. It’s too easy. We allow the devil into our lives when we mix up our priorities. A quick rearrange, and we are set for greatness.
“As Philippians 4:13 states, ‘I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.’ It doesn’t say through social media, or friends or sleep. Through Christ we are destined for eternal life. It is up to us to make the choice to keep God in the grasp of our hands and never drop him.”
