Now is the time to embrace God

By Gavin Lewis
As my wife and I prepare our kids for summer break, typically, we take time to discuss the success and difficulties of the school year that has ended.
We talk about the goals that we had set and met or did not meet and what helped us to achieve or what prevented us from achieving them. We talk about plans for the summer and the expectations for the next school year.
The end of this school year, however, was a little different. With all the chaos in the world, especially the mass shootings in Uvalde and Buffalo just a few days ago, our conversations had a different tone.
We talked about how school is still a safe haven, and how we can’t live our lives in fear. We talked about not being afraid to go grocery shopping.
The reoccurring theme of questions were based around, “Why does God allow this to happen?”
As parents, we admit that we do not have all the answers, and that there will always be things that happen in life that we don’t understand.
However, what we do know is that now is not the time to disconnect from God. Moreover, now is the time to get even closer to God, so that not only is he with us in our earthly lives, but ensure, more importantly, he is with us in our everlasting lives, and that we get to be with him in heaven.
