The Lord is the stronghold of my life

By Kristy Solis
When you have a child, everyone tells you how hard it is to have a baby; but no one tells you how difficult it is when your child grows and experiences this world.
Life is meant to have the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. Yet, the past couple of years have brought about many challenges, especially for children.
Now that the world is transitioning back to a more normal state, my daughter recently said, “Maybe, it is better to live in a bubble; the world is not a nice place.” I assured her it is a transition for all.
I shared with her – and I will share with anyone who needs to hear (or read) it – something I reflect on when my soul is not at rest. It is one of my favorite psalms: “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1).
This is an assurance. We all have survived through the past couple of years. Therefore, we must give praise of thanks to the Lord for being our stronghold during this time of unrest in this world. Thank you, Lord, for being our strength, for protecting us and, especially, for being our stronghold.
Through this time, we need to lean into our faith and to be strong – even if the Lord needs to be our stronghold. Through it all, and with the Lord, humans are strong and resilient.
Lord, hear our prayers! We need prayers of protection to be strong and courageous during this time. We lift up prayers of thanksgiving as we wait for you in all of your glory, Lord!
