Extend God’s Grace

By Kristy Solis

During this overwhelming time in the world, of an on-going pandemic and a recent hurricane, we must extend grace to others. Through all these trials, we strive to continue to live daily life.

It has been difficult for most to accept or to admit that this is a new way of life. If this is difficult for adults, can you imagine how children feel?

When children are struggling, how do we extend grace to them and teach children to extend grace to others?

We all need to rely on God during this time and to remind ourselves, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9).

When we extend grace to others, this is a gift from God. We are concerned for the suffering of others. We need to not only show children grace, but teach children that extending grace in others is an extension of what God does for us each and every day. It is our way of giving back in God’s image.

There are many forms to extend grace: with our words, with our actions or even letting go or forgiving another. If we are open, God’s will will lead the way to extending grace not to just us but to others as well.

Lord hear our prayers, please extend your grace through protection from harm and give us strength to get through each and every day. Lord, if you cover us in grace then we will learn to extend grace to others in your image.
