Lift Me Up To The Lord

By Gina Sternfels
Heading into the adoration chapel, I saw a father bringing his baby inside. The father’s face was bright with a smile, and he was beaming carrying his son.
As I prayed, I was touched by the sounds of that sweet baby that I guess was around 9 months old. The father tending to his child’s noises tried to make him happy. He leaned over, wrapping his hands under his child’s arms holding him up.
Witnessing this father and child come to adoration made my heart happy. Hearing the child and seeing his father hold him up and facing Christ flooded my heart with love. I was moved by this beautiful image of what Christ calls us to as parents and children.
God has Christ bringing us, his children, to him.
In our vocation of being parents, we are called to model God’s love to our children and bring them before our savior. He wants to pour out his graces on us! The gift of that moment was the Gospel coming to life!
“People were bringing even infants to Jesus so that he might touch them. When the disciples observed this, they rebuked them. However, Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them. For it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. Amen, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” Luke 18:15-17
Jesus, let us always remember to be little and come to you!
Well said, Gina!
