Working mom’s priorities are always her children

In his introductory remarks in the White House Rose Garden during a press conference, President Trump noted that Amy Coney Barrett, if confirmed, would be the first female Supreme Court justice with school-aged children.
Wow. That really made me pause. A woman with seven children could soon be a justice in the highest court in the land.
I know what it’s like juggling the schedules of three kids and working, but I’ve always had a flexible job – nothing like a Supreme Court justice for sure. The demands on her time must be immense. But you would never know it by looking at her. She is always put together and calm.
She is quoted to have said, “Our children are my greatest joy.” I can definitely relate to that. No matter what a mother is doing outside the home to earn a living, at the end of the day it comes down to family.
“Our children obviously make our life very full,” she said. “While I am a judge, I am better known back home as a room parent, carpool driver, and birthday-party planner,” Barrett said.
I feel a kindred spirit with the judge. She really is just like the rest of us moms, wearing many hats as we raise our children with courage and humility.
What a great time we live in where women are able to work outside the home at any job they desire and are still able to hold tight to the important job of being a mother. As Ms. Barrett says, raising children is the work that has the “greatest impact on the world.” I agree with the judge.
