Upbeat

I try to start my day by saying “Thank you, God.  This is going to be a great day.”  No matter the challenges before me, I try to start singing.  I greet my family with “Good mornin’… Good mornin’” or “Zip-a-dee-do-dah.”

I look out the window and, despite the weather, I say “It is beautiful outside!” and I mean it.  I marvel at the awesomeness of God’s creation.  I choose to see the glory of God each morning and love to share hope with my loved ones.

I used to watch lots of old shows when I was young.  Do you remember “Laverne & Shirley” singing “High Hopes”?  That’s one of my favorites!  Of course, everyone knows the “whistle” from “The Andy Griffith Show.”  How can you keep from skipping along?

Consider the soundtracks of movies and video games that clearly set a tone for the experience.  A simple tune can make your heart race with apprehension or make your eyes well with tears.  Music can make you feel empowered or vulnerable in an instant.

I recently realized that, sometimes, when I need a lift or sense my child could use a smile, I start to sing a happy tune.  Sounds a little silly, but I know this is the Holy Spirit working through me to spread love.

I pray that God will put a song in your heart and a skip in your step.
