Seeking The Truth

By Greg Zambrano

How do we go through life and help our family, especially our children to not fall for lies? If we do not seek the truth, we will fall for lies.

Some time ago, when in church among a group of people that had gathered, someone mentioned that evil and lies lurk everywhere. This is true, I was thinking. They said that we must know and study the evils out there so we won’t be their victim. This way, you can see them coming and react.

After I heard the second part about studying lies, it just didn’t register with me. Living in the world, you hear about tragic occurrences all the time, and it does not elicit peace. After pondering for some time, I knew that this idea was wrong.

What came to my mind was John 14:6 when Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and THE TRUTH, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me.” These are very dear words to me. I knew I must learn about the truth which is Jesus himself, and I decided to further study Jesus through sacred Scripture.

In John 8:32, “You will know the truth, and THE TRUTH will make you free.” Freedom from anxiety which is what studying and anticipating evil brings.

To further recognize the truth, read 1 John 4:6, “We are of God. Whoever knows God listens to us, and he who is not of God does not listen to us.” This teaches us the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. I have since moved my Bible from the bookshelf and placed it atop a table ready to be read.

Let us all forget the anxieties of this world and learn the truth which is eternal.
