Be a Catholic

This quote is attributed to St. Maximillian Kolbe, “Be a Catholic: When you kneel before an altar, do it in such a way that others may be able to recognize that you know before whom you kneel.”

I read that and was so moved by the conviction in his voice. His words didn’t just stir something inside me, they shook me.

So many times, really always, I make the sign of the cross while running. I pray before meals in public and even wear a veil to Mass. I do so almost apologetically, as if I am trying to make my devotion private and would hide it if I could.

No more.

I am Catholic. I will BE a Catholic.
