The Truth That’s Worth It: One I Wish I’d Known Sooner

By Courtney Elmer

Have you looked in the mirror today?

I’m sure you have at least once … what did you tell yourself?

Was it something positive? Or were you silently kicking yourself for something you did or didn’t do? Something you have or don’t have? … Something you wish were different because you’re unhappy with the way things are?

As someone who’s been a perfectionist-people-pleaser for the better part of my life, I’ve spent many years looking in the mirror and tearing myself down instead of building myself up. I’m not proud of it, but I am so grateful for realizing it because I’ve learned to appreciate what I do have and tell myself that I‘m ENOUGH just the way I am.

That’s because (drumroll please): Your worth is NOT measured by your productivity.

Let me say that again so it sinks in. Your worth is not measured by your productivity.

YOU are worth so much more than what you do. Far more!

And I don’t just mean what you do for work. I mean what you do all day long, jumping from one thing to the next and staying insanely busy, but never feeling truly productive or accomplished.

You were put on this earth with power and purpose. You are full of unique gifts, and you deserve to fulfill your mission and make an impact.

You, my friend, deserve to thrive in every area of your life. It’s time to shift the story you’re telling yourself.

Instead of focusing on what you don’t have, what DO you have? Instead of focusing on the results you didn’t get, what results DID you get? Instead of focusing on what you don’t want, what DO you want?

And, in case you need this reminder today: know that YOU are enough for who you are – not what you do, not your results, not what you have or don’t have.

You are beautiful. You are worthy. And you are enough as you are … for who you are.
