Veni Sancte Spiritus

By Greg Zambrano

“Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your spirit and they shall be created and thou shalt renew the face of the earth.” Amen.

You can also find the Latin version which is also spectacular, “Veni Sancte Spiritus.”

We pray this prayer together as a family at the end of the rosary to always remember and honor the Holy Spirit.

We call upon the Holy Spirit to do just what the prayer is asking, to renew the face of the earth.

To renew the face of the earth – like after a small rain shower or as drastic as a hurricane or thunderstorm.

To renew the face of the earth – like at the end of the day, it turns into night. The darkness is set aside, and a spectacular new day is born.

The Holy Spirit is ready to bring its power and glory inside my home with my family. We just need to cooperate the same way nature does by turning to God.

Very likely, you would remember these words from the Nicene Creed that we pray in Mass every weekend:

“I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son
is adored
 and glorified …”

It is important as families to receive the Eucharist, go to confession and forgive one another regularly and watch the splendor of the Lord shine within.

This way, with faith, we will be resembling the Holy Trinity, with love as a family. Our families would be set and ready to show to the world the “kingdom of heaven”. Come Holy Spirit!

  1. Greg Zambrano, it’s taken me a lifetime to learn the importance of placing my family and my life into God’s Hands. The Holy Spirit is a guide for every moment, every encounter, everyday. This prayer keeps me focused on trusting God when life’s detours unexpectedly occurs.
