What Does God Inspire You to Create?

By Kristy Solis

During family prayer, a recent devotion was related to Genesis: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

It made us reflect as a family on the creativity of God to creative an entire world.  Both of my daughters were in awe of this grand concept.  Both of them are creative by nature with a love for art in many different forms.

So, I asked my girls, “God created a whole world.  What are you inspired to create?”

My oldest daughter stated with conviction, “Depends on what God wants me to create. Sometimes God wants me to draw and sometimes God wants me to dance.”

Truth be told, my daughter comprehended that even creativity is based on God’s will.

Therefore, as parents, we need to encourage our children to think grand like God but to depend on God to bring the creation to fruition.

This Bible verse is a reminder as a family that through the Lord, “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10).  Therefore, as a family, we are a creation of unity to represent God and God’s will.

Let us pray to the Lord to let the creative power surge today and let your light shine in me.
