Plod with God

By Kristy Solis
Do you have a child that is obsessed with something? Obsessions are commonplace among children.
Currently, my youngest daughter is obsessed with turtles, in particular sea turtles. It all started this past summer when we visited Sea Life. As a family, we learned about sea turtles and the necessary steps to preserve these turtles through preservation of our toxic environment. Now, my daughter is a walking textbook of facts related to sea turtles.
It was adorable at first, but now it is beyond an obsession. She even has a stuffed turtle that does not leave her side.
Tonight, during family prayer, she asked “Are turtles in the Bible?” My response was “Of course, all of God’s creatures are in the Bible!”
Then, she asked me “What does it say in the Bible about turtles?” I read her this verse … “the flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land.”
Oh, the joy! She was so excited to hear this and that God loved turtles as much as she did.
Through my daughter’s obsession of turtles, I have learned many lessons, but the most important lesson is to plod or tread lightly.
Today, we live in a fast-paced society, which does not align with God. God wants us to live in his timing. God wants us to plod with him faithfully.
So, this a reminder next time you see a turtle even if it is just stuffed, remember to plod with God.
Let us pray for patience to “Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; Wait for the Lord!” (Psalms 27:1
