No More Giving Up

By Stacy LaMorte

I don’t know about any other moms out there, but when I was pregnant with each of my three children, I was tired of hearing about the things I could not have: a glass of wine, sushi, too much salt, too much caffeine, too many calories, the list goes on and on!
While these were very necessary omissions for my health and the health of our yet-to-be-born children, they felt oppressive.
So, when I thought of giving up one more thing for Lent, I was downright grumpy!

That was when I decided to do something positive to commemorate Lent instead of giving something up.
While giving things up is definitely a sacrifice, I feel that I get much more out of Lent when I do something positive instead.

For many years it has been making sure I say a rosary every day. I wish I could say that this is something I do every day year-round, but it is not. (I am working on that though!)
For Lent this year, how about giving it a try?

What one thing could you do every day for 40 days that would help you feel closer to the Lord and to his suffering?
What has been on your heart that you would like to do more of in your life? Is it taking time to read scripture every day? Is it picking up litter that you see while you are walking around? Spending quiet time with the Lord and journaling about it?
Let us know if you will give this a try this year!
